Construction of a new office building for ProPotsdam GmbH
The city-owned ProPotsdam group from the like-named state capital wished to bring together the employees from all its sites and subsidiary offices under one roof. The new building constructed at Pappelallee 4 in Potsdam aims to take advantage of synergy effects in communication and energy so as to create an efficient and positive place to work and provide services. Similar to other major construction projects in Potsdam, the Berlin architects Venino & Partner also focused on sustainability here. The headquarters of ProPotsdam GmbH has solar panels on the roof, for example, and also does without an air conditioning system. Pleasant room temperatures are instead achieved by feeding water through capillary systems in the concrete ceilings. A cooling unit helps to cool the water during the summer months, drawing its energy from the 200 m² photovoltaic system on the roof. Conversely, on sunny winter days, the solar panels heat the water in the ceiling pipes, thus reducing heating costs. The steel and concrete structure allows for flexible floor plans for everything from classic two-person offices to conference rooms. Partition walls can easily be moved. The building has been designed so that sections can be leased to other companies in the future.
