Construction of an operational building at Berlin Brandenburg Airport as well as compilation of the entire airport project documentation using our “CheckInvent!” database tool developed in-house.

The new Berlin Brandenburg Airport, which lies to the south of the GDR’s former central airport, consists of passenger terminals and the Airport City at the centre of a parallel runway system. Beside an urban network with its own energy supply and technical infrastructure, there are also maintenance areas to the west and service and cargo areas to the east of the site.

The airport’s links to Berlin and the surrounding area with its own motorway junction and a railway station directly below the main terminal ensure maximum intermodality for the shortest possible distances. A take-off capacity of more than 20 million passengers is planned for 2021. Depending how the capacities develop, the airport can be expanded to cater to up to 40 million passengers.

Most of the buildings, including the operational building, were completed at the start of 2012. One of the most important buildings is the computing centre. The technology of the airport’s digital brain was updated. Everything – down to the check-in counter – is controlled from these rooms. Further buildings on this site include the fire stations (east and west) comprising operational rooms along with several garages for large vehicles and the fire brigade control centre as well as the airport control centre, emergency operations centre, security control centre and technical control centre. In addition to offering aircraft firefighting services, the fire stations also ensure fire safety in the passenger terminal.

We organised and set up a documentation centre for all project documentation on behalf of the pg bbi planning consortium (architect and general planner). Allowing us to compile and finalise the documentation for completion of the operational building. We moreover assisted in preparation of a room type catalogue for the entire project based on our “CheckInvent!” database tool developed in-house.
