View of the building site from the Spree
Located beside the River Spree, directly across from the Reichstag, Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus houses the parliamentary library of the German Bundestag and a hearing room along with offices of members of the German Bundestag.
This building planned by Stephan Braunfels was inaugurated on 10 December 2003 following a five-year construction period. As the third new riverside parliamentary building, it is conceived as an eastern extension to the stretch of government buildings dubbed the ‘Band des Bundes’ (‘Federal Row’). A pedestrian bridge across the Spree provides a link to Paul-Löbe-Haus.
We were tasked with the internal project management on behalf of the general planner and specifically with integration of the external architect into the project.
